Today, we honor an exemplary lady; Eleanor Hart Williams Densford. “Ellie” was a Den Mother and Scout Leader, a little league Mom, a pianist and singer, a nurse, a teacher (of advanced nursing), an Aunt, a Sister, a home designer and builder, a Grandmother and Great Grandmother, but best and most of all, she was a Mom of Five and a Wife to One.
She was born November 15, 1939 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Claudine Payne and Dr. Clanton Ware Williams. Dr and Mrs. Williams moved Ellie and her sister Pam to Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama, where she met James T “Bucky Densford.
Sixty-eight years ago, they moved to Houston, Texas and married. With three kids in High School and 2 kids in Elementary School, Ellie went back to school, earned her GED and a Registered Nursing Degree from San Jacinto College. As an RN she began her career, in Houston, at Ben Taub and St Joseph’s Hospitals in the ICU Unit. During this time, she sang in the Houston Symphony Chorale.
In 1983, they moved to Pipe Creek and built a business and a home on a country place surrounded by trees and a spring-fed lake where, as she would always do, she proceeded to make it a great place to live. She and Bucky were among the founding members of Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church and she continued her career as an RN in San Antonio at BAMC in the Trauma Unit and volunteered as an EMT for Bandera County, then as a Director of Nurses for a nursing staffing agency, from which she retired.
Ellie and Bucky then decided they wanted a place central to their children, so they bought a home in Independence, TX… in the middle of the Antique Rose Emporium. She again sang and was active in her Church, played a major role in starting the Tea Party in Washington County and was heavily involved in the Historical Society and Republican Party.
She survived the death of her husband, Bucky, in August 2021 and the unexpected passing of her son, David Densford, in February 2024. But her legacy of love and care are still alive in her children: Tom Densford, Cathy Price, Steve Densford and Susan Densford, her sister, her nephews, nieces and every one of her wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ellie loved and took great care of her family and extended-family members until GOD took her home on Monday, April 8th. Her energy and creativity will be missed.
Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27,2024 in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors, 336 E. San Augustine, Deer Park, Texas 77536.
